gigsnshows lists live music, theatre, sports and stand-up from ticketing sites and venues. We don't sell tickets: when you book, you do it on the seller's own site, and their privacy policy applies there.
If you just browse
Nothing about you is kept on our servers. Your city, interests, My shows (the shows you save with the heart) and the shows you've opened, saved or searched for (which shape For you) are stored in your browser only. “Forget what I've browsed” under Your interests clears the history, and clearing your browser's site data clears everything.
Analytics
Only if you tap OK on the cookie notice, we use Google Analytics to see which pages and features people use: for example which row a show was opened from, which ticket site was chosen, and words typed into search. It's never used for advertising. Until you say OK, Google receives only cookie-free signals that don't identify your device. Analytics data is deleted after 14 months.
Our own visit count
Whatever you choose on the cookie notice, our own server adds one to a daily total when the site is opened, so we know roughly how many people use it. It uses no cookie and stores nothing on your device. Your network address and browser are mixed into a one-way code that changes every day; it is only used to count you once that day, it cannot be followed from one day to the next, and it is deleted after two days. We keep only daily totals: how many visitors, which city page was opened, whether they came from a link on LinkedIn, Instagram, Google and so on, phone or computer, and how many people got through each step of logging in (never the number you typed). This is skipped if your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control".
Asking gigsnshows (voice and chat)
The mic and the chat box let you ask for shows in your own words. If you use the mic, your browser's own speech service (Google's in Chrome, Apple's in Safari) turns what you say into text. The words you say or type are then sent to our server in Mumbai, which asks Anthropic's Claude (an AI service) to look through the listings and write the answer. Anthropic's commercial terms say it does not train its models on this, and it may keep it briefly for safety checks under its own policy. We don't record your voice, and we don't keep what you asked or what was answered. To make the daily limit work, our server keeps only a count of messages per day, filed under a scrambled code made from a random ID your browser holds and from your network address, so neither is stored as it is. Please don't put personal details in a question. Analytics only notes whether a show was found.
Add to calendar and the home-screen app
“Add to calendar” builds the entry in your browser. The Google Calendar choice opens Google with the show's details; the file choice (Apple, Outlook and others) is made on your device and isn't sent to us. If you add gigsnshows to your home screen, your phone keeps a copy of the site and the latest listings so it can open without signal. Nothing about you is added to that copy, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.
The daily picks email
If you sign up for it, your email address and the city you choose are sent to Buttondown, the service that sends it for us. We use them only to email you the day's picks each morning. We don't sell them or use them for anything else, and they never appear on the site. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us through the contact form to delete your address. Buttondown's own policy applies to what it holds. We don't know who opens or clicks the email beyond what Buttondown reports to us in total.
If you log in
Logging in is optional. If you do, we keep:
- Your mobile number, to send you a one-time code and recognise you. This is handled by Google's Firebase Authentication, which also runs a reCAPTCHA check to keep out bots.
- Your My shows, interests and For you history, so they follow you to every device you log in on. These are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and can be read only by you.
- Your tickets, only if you connect Gmail (see the ticket wallet below). These are stored on our own server, not in Firestore.
We use these only to log you in and keep your picks. We don't sell or share them, and we don't send marketing messages.
Your ticket wallet (connecting Gmail)
The wallet is optional and starts only if you log in and choose Connect Gmail. If you do, gigsnshows looks for your booking confirmations so your tickets can sit in one place. We ask Google for read-only access, which cannot send, delete or change anything. We only search for emails from ticket sellers (for example BookMyShow, District, thumpN and Skillbox) and open only those; the rest of your inbox is never opened. From a ticket email we keep the event, date, venue, booking ID and seats, and the ticket's QR code or PDF, so you can show it at the door. We do not keep prices, card details or anything else in the email. To read each email, its text is sent to an AI service (Anthropic's Claude), solely to pull out those booking details; it is not used for advertising or to train AI models. Your tickets and Google's access token are stored encrypted on our server in Mumbai, India. No one at gigsnshows reads your mail or your tickets, except with your permission to fix a problem or where the law requires it.
You can remove any ticket, disconnect a Gmail account (this revokes our access at Google and deletes the tickets found in it) or delete everything from the wallet page at any time. Deleting your account does the same. You can also remove our access in your Google Account under Security, then Third-party access. Until Google finishes reviewing gigsnshows, the wallet is open only to invited testers.
gigsnshows's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Plans with friends (“Who's in?”)
If you start a plan or answer one, we keep the plan (the show or shows, their date and venue), the first name you typed and your answer (Going, Maybe or Can't, and for a plan for a whole night which shows you'd go to). Anyone who has the plan's link can see the names and answers on it; nobody can browse plans without a link. You don't need to log in: your browser is given an anonymous identifier so your answer stays yours. This is stored in Google Cloud Firestore.
You can change or remove your answer, or delete a plan you started, from the plan itself at any time. Deleting your account also deletes the plans you started and your answers on the plans your account is linked to.
Shared My shows lists
If you create or join a shared list, we keep the list's name, the first name you typed and the shows in your My shows, so the group can see what everyone wants to go to. Anyone who has the list's link can see these names and picks; nobody can browse lists without a link. You don't need to log in: your browser is given an anonymous identifier so your entry stays yours. This is stored in Google Cloud Firestore. While you're a member, changes to your My shows update your entry.
You can leave a list at any time, which removes your name and picks from it, and the person who made a list can delete it. Deleting your account also deletes the lists you made and your entries in lists you joined.
Reporting plans and lists
If you report a plan or shared list, we receive your chosen reason, any note you add and the link to what you reported, delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms. We don't ask for your name or email and don't tell the person who made it. We use reports only to review and, where needed, remove content or block misuse. See our terms.
Deleting your data
Tap the account icon at the top, then Delete my account. That removes your number, everything saved to your account and any tickets and Gmail connections in your wallet straight away. You can also write to us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 provides.
Contact
Questions or complaints about your data: use our contact form. We'll reply by email within 30 days. Messages sent through the form are delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, and we use your name and email only to reply.
